Barbara Evans named CPHVA's Community Nursery Nurse of the Year, 2012 - Feeding for Life Foundation (FfLF) were proud sponsors of the Award

On 13th March 2012 Barbara Evans, Community Nursery Nurse for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, was awarded the first Community Practitioners' and Health Visitors' Association award for Community Nursery Nurse of the Year. The inaugural awards evening celebrated the daily achievements and hard work of community nursing practitioners across the UK.

Barbara has been a qualified nursery nurse for 31 years and has given 18 years of service to the community nursery nurse (CNN) profession, working in a community with high deprivation and child protection issues. She was highly praised in her award nomination for the working partnerships that she has developed with agencies, including work with a local Sure Start children's centre.

Barbara EvansSpeaking after the presentation, Barbara said she was "genuinely surprised" to win and praised the outstanding achievements of her fellow nominees. She said: "I have won this for every community nursery nurse in the country, I really do feel that, because we have all been through the battles I have been through and equally we have also been through the pleasures."

The two other named finalists for the Community Nursery Nurse of the Year award were Karen Bainbridge and Angela Holmes.

The Feeding for Life Foundation (FfLF) were proud sponsors of this year's award, reflecting the Foundation's continued commitment to best practice and improving early nutrition to influence future health outcomes.
