Feeding for Life Magazine - Spring 2013

FfL magazine Spring 2013
The latest Feeding for Life magazine issue is available to download now!

More than a year has passed since the launch of the 'MIND THE GAP: Are the current vitamin D recommendations meeting the needs of the under-5s in the UK?' report, and the Chief Medical Officers wrote to healthcare professionals (HCPs) reminding them of the need for supplementaion. Yet poor vitamin D status continues to be a persistent challenge.

The Spring 2013 issue of the FfL Magazine looks at a recent Canadian study on vitamin D, supplementation and fortification - Dr Robert Mob explains that these finding should not be taken at face value. The magazine also explores the key issues surrounding the introduction of first foods, with dietitian Julie Lanigan offering practical advice on how to support parents and carers as infants progress through this important period of transition.

Professor Pinki Sahota also previews some fascinating research on ethnic differences in weaning practices, which has emerged from the Born in Bradford study, and aims to improve health outcomes in the city.
